Alessandra Ambrosio is Good for a Ride

You know what I like about Alessandra Ambrosio (aside from the fact that she's retardedly hot)? She enjoys her work. I mean, here she is on her down time after a bikini photo shoot in St. Barth's, riding a surf board in a bikini. Now, you'd think that after wearing bikinis all day, the last thing she'd want to do on her day off is wear another bikini. Thankfully, Alessandra has no such problems. And speaking of riding surfboards, I wouldn't mind riding Alessandra Ambrosio like a surfboard... Wait, that doesn't work.

Three cheetahs spare tiny antelope's life... and play with him instead

"Hello little antelope, would you like to play with us?" Coming from three deadly cheetahs, it's the kind of invitation that's best refused - but amazingly, this impala escaped unscathed from its encounter. Luckily for the youngster, it seems these three male cheetahs simply weren't hungry. No claws for alarm: Astonishingly, these cheetahs, whose instinct is to hunt for food, decide to play with this baby impala That's because unlike other big cats, the cheetah hunts in the daytime, either in the early morning or late afternoon. The bursts of speed needed to catch their prey tire them out - meaning they need to rest after a kill.

Kristen Bell's BaDunkADunk Ate Some Of Her Dress

If you ask me, it sure looks like it. While Kristen Bell does have the petite frame to pull this ridiculous ensemble off, this isn't a respected awards show, sweets. It's the premiere for your more than likely garbage fest rom com When In Rome. I mean your love interest is a guy who beats off on strippers rather than his Fuggie.

Fire and Ice

For today's entry, an exercise in contrasts: Fire and Ice. Fire can be a life-sustaining, constructive element, or, at worst, a powerfully destructive force - something we humans continue to use, play with, and struggle to control. Ice is closer to the natural state of the universe, cold, still and lifeless. Earth's orbit lies in a "Goldilocks zone" where we may seasonally experience icy environments, but never freeze completely. Collected here are several recent alternating photographs from around the world of both Fire and Ice.

Ferrari Falls Ass-End First Off Truck At Dealership

A Ferrari F430 Spyder fell from the top level of a delivery truck at Ernie Boch's luxury car dealership outside of Boston. The only funny part? Watching the windshield wipers running in the video below. Watch the video below — then cue the "Yeah, that'll buff right out" comments in 5,4,3,2...

Lockheed's HULC Super-Soldier Exoskeleton Gets More Juice

Even the finest super-soldier suit can end up as expensive deadweight if the batteries run out of juice. Lockheed Martin wants to avoid that fate for its robotic exoskeleton by turning to fuel cells that can power the suit for days, The Register reports. Lockheed's Human Universal Load Carrier (HULC) is a mechanized frame that allows soldiers to march or even run easily with loads of 200 pounds, as well as squat or kneel without trouble. But the current li-ion batteries supporting the suit typically run down after just a few hours of walking, not to mention running.

Lotus Exige S Type 72

The Lotus Exige S Type 72 celebrates the most successful F1 car of all time, the Lotus Type 72 Formula One car, which achieved 20 Grand Prix victories between 1970 and 1975. The Lotus Type 72 was driven by such Lotus greats as Jochen Rindt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Ronnie Peterson and Jacky Ickx and won three Formula One Constructors' Championships and two Drivers' World Championships. The colour scheme of the Lotus Exige S Type 72 commemorates the famous and easily recognisable black and gold Lotus Type 72 livery and is finished by the same sign writer who painted racing cars for Team Lotus.

Galleries / The Science & the Fiction

It is impossible to determine just how much science misinformation audiences retain, but it’s safe to say the minuscule amount of good science in the movies is entirely outgunned. After combing through a vast library of science fiction flicks both sublime and ridiculous, your intrepid Bad Astronomer sat down to explain the best and worst of movie science. So grab some popcorn, relax, and be glad that when the lights go back up, the real universe will still be out there for us to enjoy. This gallery is a sample of content from DISCOVER's special Extreme Universe issue, which is available on newsstands only through March 22, 2010.
