Second-gen SSC Ultimate Aero Vows To Supersede Bugatti Veyron Supersport
The next generation Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero is all set to zero in on and then zoom past by the mighty world class Bugatti Veyron super sport. With no details on the car available as yet, it is but obvious that everything about it would be one up if it has to supersede its Bugati counterpart. Now much of the estimates about the car can be surmised based on Veyron’s specifications for e.g. the car will need more than 1,183 Hp to surpass Veyron’s 1,200 hp and top speed of record 431 km/h or 268 mph. This will have to be combined with top of the class aerodynamic design to outshine the tough competitor. Designer Jason Castriota, creator of the Maserati GranTurismo must have faced a daunting challenge to accomplish this feat. Ultimate Aero would be unveiled at Boeing’s Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA., on August 8.

HumanCar Imagine PS Goes For Another Test Drive
It's been a long while since we first heard about the HumanCar, a vehicle powered by electricity and human rowing power, but some things just take longer than others. The design has come a long way since that 2006 post and the latest news is that the model you see above, called the Imagine PS, was recently taken out for a test drive. We've got the video to prove it after the jump. Professor Charles Samuel Greenwood, the inventor of the HumanCar, went for a drive in the $15,500 street-legal, low-mass vehicle with his son Chuck. The car took on "several" hills (with four to six percent grades) at 30 miles per hour using power from both the driver and the battery pack.

Ford's 6.7-L V-8 Power Stroke Diesel Could Make 800 Pounds-Feet of Torque
The envelope for diesel power in heavy-duty pickup trucks continues to expand. In 2005, Dodge and Cummins broke the 600 pounds-feet of torque barrier. Earlier this year, 700 pounds-feet was shattered by both Ford and General Motors. Now, sources say 800 pounds-feet could fall before the end of 2010. The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD pickups are the current kings of the hill with their 397 horsepower and 765 pounds-feet of torque 6.6-liter 'LML' Duramax V-8 engines. But as we first reported in March, Ford is said to be working on a major power boost for the all-new 390 horsepower, 735 pounds-feet 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel. According to new details we've received from our sources, a high output version of the 6.7 is expected to produce approximately 400 horsepower and at least 800 pounds-feet of torque, when production of Job 2 2011 Super Duty pickups starts later this year.

Powered By The Sun, The Plane That Flew All Day And Night
A solar-powered plane yesterday completed a record-breaking 26-hour flight - paving the way for an aircraft that could potentially stay airborne for ever. The Solar Impulse, which flies using four propeller engines powered by solar panels on its huge wings, landed in Switzerland after an epic flight.
It collects so much energy from the sun during the day that it can store electricity to power it through the night. Engineers behind the experimental single-seat aircraft, which circled Swiss airspace yesterday, are planning to fly it over the Atlantic and eventually around the world, claiming: 'We are now on the verge of perpetual flight.'
