Haiti One Month After The Earthquake

Atop the rubble of destroyed churches, in parks and on sidewalks, thousands of Haitians prayed Friday in a national day of mourning, one month after a magnitude-7 earthquake killed more than 200,000 and left this Caribbean country struggling for survival. People run as a UN helicopter takes off after picking up peacekeepers near a makeshift camp for earthquake survivors in Port-au-Prince, Thursday, Feb. 11.

EB-48s Concept Is Designed For The Better Driving Awareness

The above featured vehicle is an EB-48S Concept. The brain child of Emil Badal who designed this vehicle many years ago is another breed of EB brand with a mid engine V6 supercharged. One of its cardinal features is the lightening system, particularly the rear lights that are prioritized to maximize the amount of awareness for other drivers. Its lightening system is based on hi-bright LEDs with Neon back lights in the front and the rear ones in EB-48S have 3 sections that change lights between three colors – Red, Orange and white as per the conditions. Means, in the day time if the driver turns on the turn indicator, the tail lights flashes with the orange LED and if the driver brakes while turning, two sections out of three turn red. In other words the tail-lights are prioritized, maximizing the amount of awareness for other drivers.

New Armored Wall System Assembles Like Legos, Could Replace Sandbags in Afghanistan

Attention recruits. Those of you landing in Afghanistan in coming months may not have to engage in the sandbag stacking and trench digging usually associated with lowly grunt-dom. An $800,000 investment in an armored wall system known as McCurdy’s Armor could have Marines rapidly erecting 6.5-foot-tall mortar-, RPG- and bullet proof fortresses in less than an hour, saving the days it can take to fortify an area by conventional means and making forward-operating units more nimble. Named for Ryan S. McCurdy — a Marine killed in Iraq in 2006 while hauling a wounded comrade to safety — the system is designed to offer troops increased protection and mobility when setting up outposts in hostile areas.

Man Builds Mustang Out Of Lamborghini, World Goes Huh?

So get this: Guy likes Lamborghinis. Guy likes Fords. Guy takes a 2007 Mustang and shoves a massive V-10 and transaxle into its middle. We can't look away. Building this monstrosity took one Mustang shell, one Mustang parts car, one Lamborghini Gallardo parts car, and several thousand hours of labor. Everything from the transmission to the all-wheel-drive system is claimed to work. And we'll be damned if we know what to do with it.

Clipping coupons hardly sounds like the subject of high finance–or even medium finance. Save a dollar on cat food, some detergent or a couple of boxes of cereal. Who can be bothered? Who has the time? A growing number of people, it turns out. And they're shrewder than it may at first appear. The Great American Coupon is making a big comeback–thanks to the Great American Recession. We redeemed some 3.3 billion coupons last year–a remarkable 27 percent leap from 2008, and the first year-on-year increase in 17 years, according to a report issued at the end of January by Inmar, a coupon-processing agent. The big upturn took off in October 2008, just after Lehman went belly up. At first blush you can see why coupons fell out of fashion for so long–and why so many consumers still ignore them.
