Creative X-Ray Photo Artwork by Veasey

“We live in a world obsessed with image. What we look like, what our clothes look like, houses, cars… I like to conter this obsession with superficial appearance by stripping back the layers and showing what it is like under the surface Often the integral beauty adds intrigue to the familiar. We all make assumptions based on the external visual aspects of what surrounds us and we are attracted to people and forms that are aesthetically pleasing. I like to challenge this automatic way that we react to just physical appearance by highlighting the, often surprising, inner beauty.” -- The Artist – Nick Veasey

Bugatti Veyron Operating Costs So Expensive, It's Cheaper To Use A Private Jet?

There are frightening bills, horrific bills, and Bugatti Veyron bills. The legendarily expensive to buy, it seems that the Veyron is equally expensive to keep running, with some pegging yearly running costs at $300,000. It's so expensive, in fact, that Autocar says there's an owner who trailers his car to a particular driving route, then follows behind in a private jet. Let's just take the tires, for example: in the U.S., the Michelin Pilot Sport 2s fashioned with the Veyron's unique compound cost about $30,000; in the UK they're £23,500 ($38,216 U.S.). Bugatti recommends you change them every 4,000 kilometers, or 2,500 miles, and at every ten thousand miles the company recommends changing the wheels and tires, which runs north of $50,000.

Largest Green Energy Plant in the World Planned for India

Both China and Africa have incredibly ambitious plans for massive energy projects sourced from the sun or wind, but India may beat them to the punch with the colossal project they have in the works. A consortium has formed between Airvoice Group and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam to build a 13 GW green energy plant in the rural area of Karnataka. Of the 13 GW, 10 GW will be from photovoltaics and 3 GW from wind farms making this new farm a double whammy.

Dodge's New Tough-Guy Color: Furious Fuchsia

Furious Fuchsia, a pair of words not often seen together, is the name of a new special edition Dodge Challenger muscle car. The bright purple cars from the still struggling Chrysler Group, available on V8-powered R/T and SRT-8 versions, will be officially unveiled later this week at the Chicago Auto Show, but the company provided photographs ahead of time. Chrysler Group is trying to better define its various brands and products as it attempts to claw back lost market share following years of slumping sales and financial cutbacks that ultimately ended in bankruptcy.

New Armored Wall System Assembles Like Legos, Could Replace Sandbags in Afghanistan

Attention recruits. Those of you landing in Afghanistan in coming months may not have to engage in the sandbag stacking and trench digging usually associated with lowly grunt-dom. An $800,000 investment in an armored wall system known as McCurdy’s Armor could have Marines rapidly erecting 6.5-foot-tall mortar-, RPG- and bullet proof fortresses in less than an hour, saving the days it can take to fortify an area by conventional means and making forward-operating units more nimble. Named for Ryan S. McCurdy — a Marine killed in Iraq in 2006 while hauling a wounded comrade to safety — the system is designed to offer troops increased protection and mobility when setting up outposts in hostile areas.
