Minka Kelly Trains for Charlie’s Angels

Minka Kelly is working hard to have the perfect body for her role in the upcoming Charlie’s Angels television series. Minka, with the help of a trainer, is sculpting her already amazing body at a police training center in Miami. She’s been spotted there often lately, prepping for her role, and we are sure she is going to look fabulous on the new show. Hell, Minka Kell could be going to Baskin & Robbins everyday instead of the gym and she would still look amazing.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans

Alessandra Torresani Sexy in Leia Costume

It's already been a vigorous and rigorous day for fanboys, and it's about to go Condition Delta with these exclusive behind the scenes photos from our friends at Break.com of the making of their spoof video, Tonight I'm Frakking You, a 'geek fantasy come to life when one lucky nerd finds himself in Sci-fi's hottest nightclub with every girl he'd ever want to Frak.' While there are a bunch of hotties in the video, most noteworthy would be nerd-alerting Alessandra Torresani, decked out in slave Princess Leia cosplay gear, most certain to drive up sales of Vaseline Intensive Care products in a nine-block radius around every apartment housing two or more Mint-in-Box collector's edition action figures.

PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES TECHNOLOGY & OTHER NEAT STUFF

2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

Dodge has dropped the Street and Racing Technology motherlode on the eve of the Chicago Auto Show and first out of the gate is the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 – what Eminem should've rolled in during the Super Bowl. As with anything birthed from Chrysler's in-house tuning division, the Charger SRT8 is all about the engine, so the transformation begins with the new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 putting out 465 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque – a boost of some 80 lb-ft over the old 6.1-liter mill. That torquey wave comes on at 2,900 rpm and Dodge claims that with the fitment of its Fuel Saver tech, allowing the engine to run on four cylinders when its not under load, fuel economy will improve, although Dodge isn't saying how much. Chrysler's W5A580 five-speed automatic transmission backs up the HEMI, and you can select your own gears by either slapping the AutoStick or thumbing the steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifters.

Coming to a Mound Near You: Pitching Helmets

Sporting goods giant Easton-Bell has developed a prototype pitching helmet for pitchers, part of a concerted effort to cut down on debilitating brain injuries to young athletes. With representatives from Little League Baseball on hand, Easton-Bell CEO Paul Harrington unveiled the as-yet-unnamed helmet yesterday at the company’s new 55,000-square-foot helmet R&D facility in Northern California, appropriately named “The Dome.” “We feel confident enough with the testing that we’ve done that it’s safe enough to put a prototype on the field,” Harrington told reporters. Standing with Harrington was Gunnar Sandberg, a 17-year-old Marin Catholic High School pitcher who was struck in the head one year ago by a line drive and had to be put into a medically induced coma to reduce brain swelling. His case made national headlines as the debate over traumatic brain injuries, which had been focused almost exclusively on pro football players, suddenly shifted toward baseball, where balls struck off of aluminum bats can reach speeds approaching 100 mph.

800 horsepower Gumpert Apollo

Here's a video, courtesy of YouTube channel Marchettino, of the Gumpert Apollo doing a few laps at the Monza circuit in Italy. Marchettino also takes us along for a ride inside the machine on the track where we get a sense of the kind of noise and grip the car is capable of producing. Marchettino reports that this is the only Gumpert Apollo in Italy, which makes Gumpert probably more of an exclusive brand in that country than the automaker was hoping for. This Apollo is a road legal variant modified to produce 800 PS (588 kW / 789 bhp) - same as the non street-legal race version.

Insane Screwdriver-Powered EX Vehicle Rockets You Headfirst Through the Streets

We’re all for electric vehicles and innovative new uses for everyday objects – but this EX vehicle propelled by screwdrivers is just nuts. The pared-down racing trike harnesses two 18-volt screwdrivers as engines, allowing it to accelerate up to 30 km/h. It looks like a blast, however due to the vehicle’s aggressive skeleton-luge seating you might just need a screw loose to drive it. Nils Ferber‘s EX vehicle was built from the ground-up to offer the distinct experience of hurtling headfirst through the streets just a few inches above the pavement. The three-wheeled design places the driver prone with both arms outstretched – the better to hang on for dear life. The throttle and brakes operate like a motorcycle, and a custom-built joint allows the rear section to tilt as the driver leans into curves.
