Gwen Stefani Is Pretty Damn HotGwen Stefani was still on her yacht off the coast of France near Cannes earlier today, and I guess one of the reasons she looks so good in a bikini, even at the age of 41, is because she never wears one. She’s never out in the sun. That’s why there aren’t many pictures like this. She’s so pale if she stays in the sun for more than a few minutes she starts smoking like a vampire. |
Decorated Gas TanksLocal gas companies occasionally add a touch of character to the giant spherical gas containers that dot the landscape of Japan. Here are a few examples. |
Jaime Pressly’s Sweet Booty In SpandexI’ve got to admit that I’m a big fan of chicks in yoga outfits, even if they’re just pretending and have absolutely no intention of actually taking a yoga class. It just looks good. Here’s Jaime Pressly showing off her amazing little booty in a sweet yoga get up. Judging by the quality of that ass, I’m going to go ahead and assume that she’s taken a yoga class or two. That thing looks like it could crush walnuts. Awesome. If I was a billionaire I’d hire her to crush nuts at my parties…. You know what I mean. |
Pitching A Tent On The Side Of A 4,000ft Cliff FaceFor many people, a camping trip is enough to get them sweating before they've even put up a tent pole. But for these daredevil explorers, scaling cliffs and pitching tents at the height of more than 300 double decker buses is just a normal day at the office. Hanging precariously in tents off a 4,000ft sheer cliff face, these climbers are chasing the most dangerous big wall climbs ever attempted. As these stunning images show, the climbs can last for weeks and the explorers must set up tents on the edge of monstrous cliff faces to grab some much needed rest. They were taken by adventure photographer Gordon Wiltsie, 57, who risks his own life to capture thrill-seeking moments. He said: 'During this climb it was the Arctic spring so melting snow on both the summit and a ledge midway up the cliff constantly sent rocks and chunks of ice flying down. 'One the size of a car even came crashing down around us. Several times I came within inches of being hit which almost certainly would have been fatal. 'Falling objects are constantly on your mind and if you look carefully at the picture of the hanging tents, or Portaledges, you can see the camp was below an overhang for shelter. |

Ice Racing in a Mazda MX-5It's minus 30 degrees centigrade, but I'm sweating profusely. I'm driving a car with no roof at a speed that must boost the wind chill factor to a thoroughly frostbiting figure, and yet things continue to heat up inside the cockpit. Arms are twirling and pedals pumping in an effort to keep my Mazda MX-5 pointing in approximately the right direction on a track carved into the snow on the surface of a frozen lake. Adding to the heat is the pressure of another 19 drivers in identical MX-5s all trying to get round the same circuit at the same time. Welcome to the splendidly organised chaos of the first ever international Mazda MX-5 Ice Race. |
This Is What Schizophrenia Looks Like At The Molecular LevelWhat you're looking at are neurons grown from a schizophrenic person. An incredible study, published today in Nature, reveals how scientists grew schizophrenic brain cells to understand the inner workings of this still-mysterious neurological disorder. A team of scientists from research institutes across the US collaborated to conduct this first-of-a-kind experiment. Schizophrenia is known to be a genetic disease in the majority of cases, and the researchers drew their samples from the skin of four people with clear signs of genetic schizophrenia. Three were from families where one parent and all their siblings were also schizophrenic, and one had been diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 6. The scientists "reprogrammed" these cells to become stem cells, then neurons, creating small colonies of cells whose genetic profile exactly matches schizophrenic neurons. |
Mclaren Takes First MP4-12c GT3 Out For Silverstone TestMcLaren has just unveiled the racing version of its all-new street-fighting MP4-12C. The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 has been out running England's Silverstone circuit with new test driver Álvaro Parente at the wheel. The race-version of McLaren's new coupe is nearly four inches wider than the street version. It also features completely reworked suspension, which was first tested on McLaren's in-house simulator. Power is provided by the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the standard MP4-12C. However, in GT3 guise, the setup has been tuned for the track. A paddle-shifted Ricardo-designed transmission takes the place of the seven-speed unit found in the street car. Upgraded brakes have also been fitted to this race-prepped McLaren. |
