Kristin Cavallari Shows Off Her New Beach Body

Looking good, Kristin Cavallari. It appears that Ms. Cavallari has been working out 24 hours a day in order to get ready for her forthcoming wedding to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. (Dude’s got 42 interceptions over the last two years. Can you do something about that Ms. Cavallari?) What was her trick for dropping the weight? ‘I worked out with my trainer three times a week then did cardio on the treadmill for 40 mins. But the biggest thing for me was cutting out alcohol; when I’m hungover, I eat whatever I want,’ she said. Hey, hey, slow down. Let’s pretend like you just didn’t say that. OK? Thanks.

Katy Perry Is In A Bikini

If you ever wondered what Pippi Longstocking would look like if she were a featured dancer in town for one night only, apparently Katy Perry is a redhead now. With braids. And a bikini that my penis was very upset about. He was just lashing out if I can be honest. I can be honest, right? We're all friends here.

Welcome to Pyongyang

How do you photograph one of the most secretive countries in the world? For Charlie Crane the answer was simple, photograph what they want you to see. If there is no possibility of getting underneath the surface then the answer was to photograph the surface itself. This series is taken from a larger body of work in Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea. Although not commonly thought of as a holiday destination all these photographs have been taken at tourist sites throughout the city. It took over a year for Charlie to get permission to go in with his camera: he was not allowed to take his mobile phone past customs and was met by two guides who were to accompany him at all times throughout his trip. At first they appeared robotic in conversation as if reading from a script, telling of their countrys great achievements. After a few days and many polaroids the guides became more relaxed and personable. Working with such tight restrictions in a country once described as a Stalinist Disneyland was a real challenge but the result is the strongest body of work that Charlie has produced to date.

Shootout Tests Low-priced, High-mileage Cars

Ideal cars for the times. A handful of the best compacts, not very expensive, not very thirsty, big enough for a family. And surprisingly well-equipped. High fuel prices and a slow economy are making such cars hot but also raising sales prices. So Cars.com and USA TODAY pitted compact sedans meeting strict price and mileage requirements in our latest head-to-head Shootout to help you pick a winner for your garage before car prices get even higher. The Under 20/Over 35 Shootout judged five cars priced at less than $20,000, before shipping, and rated at more than 35 miles per gallon on the highway. As usual — to make sure the Shootouts have a real-life connection — a family, as well as Cars.com and USA TODAY experts, judged the cars. And that began swimmingly. The low-price, high-mileage compacts increasingly impressed family judge Frani Udell, a working mom from Northbrook, Ill., who hasn't been car shopping lately. Her regular ride is a 2008 Toyota Highlander crossover SUV, and she was self-conscious about how impressed she was with the 2011 Hyundai Elantra, a brand and model she said she'd have dismissed out-of-hand before she got this close look. In fact, she'd have written off all five before this chance to see, sit and pilot.

Naki’o - The First Dog With Four Prosthetic Paws

Naki’o is the first dog to be fitted with a complete set of bionic legs that work naturally to allow him to run, jump and even swim. The prosthetics were designed and fitted in a pioneering procedure by Martin Kaufmann, founder of Orthopets. Abandoned by a family fleeing their foreclosed home and their mother dead, Naki’o and his brothers and sisters barely survived the harsh Nebraskan winter. Weakened by malnourishment, the red heeler puppy stepped into an icy puddle in the basement and got his four paws stuck in freezing water. At just five weeks old the litter was taken to an animal rescue center. Under the shelter’s care Naki’o's paws, lost to severe frostbite, healed to rounded stumps.

Wrenchmonkees CX500

The Honda CX500 has always lacked the cachet of the earlier CB550 Four. Which is ironic, because the CB550 was little more than a downsized CB750; Honda was losing ground in the technological stakes to the other Japanese makers. So Honda gave the new CX500 a water-cooled V-twin, shaft drive and tubeless tires—all quite revolutionary concepts in the late 70s. But the awkward, angular styling did not match the inspired engineering. Max, the French owner of this CX500, decided to fix that. He gave the Wrenchmonkees a call.

NASA Autonomous Lander Hovers in Midair, in Infrared Video

Hovering landers or drones look as though they’re suspended in the air, because you can’t see the vortices caused by the propellers or the heat emitted by the thruster, or whatever mechanism enables the hovering. Well, here you can. And it proves that the act of hovering is anything but delicate. In a test earlier this month, this prototype NASA lander flew up to 7 feet for 27 seconds, proving it can execute commands autonomously, according to NASA. It was able to autonomously hover for an extended period, control its position and orientation and land successfully. NASA engineers were quite happy, as the video below shows. It’s a pretty neat accomplishment, but it is made much cooler by the infrared view shown here. What seemed to be a gust of wind (knocking a NASA meatball poster off the test chamber wall) is rendered a huge jet of superheated gas.
