Maria Menounos Amazing Bikini PicturesI don’t watch Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood or whatever f@#king show Maria Menounos is on now, but that’s not to say that I don’t enjoy seeing the Greek goddess in her little bikini. Here she is in Miami over the weekend showing off that tight little body in a skimpy bikini. I like it. Maybe if she did her show dressed like this she’d have a wider audience. I know I’d watch… In slow motion of course. |
Water Towers of IrelandAn exhibition up—possibly for just one more day—over at University College, Dublin, features photos by James Young. For the last 10 months, Young has been assembling a typological study of water towers in Ireland. Young describes it as "part inventory, part photographic essay and part history." Of course, Young's work has presumably been greeted with very many comparisons to the work of Bernd & Hilla Becher. |
Imogen Thomas 2012 Calendar Shoot with Easy RiderUh-oh, there’s a leaked photo from Imogen Thomas’ 2012 calendar. Awesome? We love Ms. Thomas, but this calendar looks awfully boring. At least for now it does. Unless, of course, this picture is for the month of May. If that’s the case, it makes so much sense. Our beef is that there’s just too much coverage here. Maybe it’s an Easy Rider-themed calendar? If so, we’ll pass. Here’s a little tip for Ms. Thomas. When making your 2012 calendar, here’s what we want to see front and center. |

Montana Couple Builds Life-sized Hobbit HouseWho are the biggest Lord of the Rings fans in the world? Nope, not the guy who owns every single of the books, movies and dresses up as Gandalf on Halloween. It's not even the folk who had Gollum as their ring bearer in one of the weddings in Four Weddings. That honor now officially belongs to Steve and Christina Michaels, a couple from Montana that love Frodo Baggins and his little Hobbit friends so much that they built a life-sized Hobbit house and an entire miniature Shire to accompany it. The complete opposite of Yotel, the "Hobbit House of Montana," as it's officially called, is about as natural looking as they come. The entire project took $410,000 to build and guest stays cost $245 a night. It's pricey, but how else are you supposed to live out your Hobbit dreams? The Michaels' Hobbit house isn't all mortar and 700-year-old cedar stump, though. Inside is a handcrafted kitchen with HDTVs, Blu-ray players, Wi-Fi and XM Radio. It's about as far from backwards as you would have thought. |
Steve McQueen's 1970 Porsche 911S goes for $1.25 million at RMTo date, RM has auctioned off 199 vehicles priced over one million dollars. And here's number 200. Tonight in Monterey, RM Auctions put Steve McQueen's 1970 Porsche 911S on the block and after a starting bid of $200,000 the Porsche's price shot up to over one million before slowly coming to rest at $1.1m. Then $1.15, $1.2 and finally $1.25 million. The 911, seen in the opening scenes of the racing epic, LeMans, was McQueen's personal car throughout the filming and has racked up a total of 112,000 miles over the last 41 years. We don't know who the final bidder was, but we do know she's here in the States, and she had to beat out a very determined overseas buyer. |
Portland Rocks Down To Electric AvenueIn partnership with utility companies and, we imagine, with a little inspiration from Eddy Grant, the city of Portland has unveiled an “electric avenue” where EVs can plug in while parked. Located on the campus of Portland State University, on Southwest Montgomery Street between Southwest Broadway and Southwest Sixth Avenue, the stretch of road features five 240-volt, Level 2 charging stations which can recharge most EVs from empty in four to six hours. There’s also a single rapid charging station that can recharge compatible vehicles in under a half hour. We can only imagine the future episode of Portlandia featuring a couple Leaf drivers getting into a fist fight over who gets to plug in to the quick charger. At yesterday’s opening ceremonies, vehicles that plugged in included a Nissan Leaf, Tesla Roadster, Chevy Volt, Ford Transit Connect, Smith Newton, Mitsubishi iMiEV, Toyota Prius Plug-In and Arcimoto’s new Darkwing. |
