Brooke Burke Actually Gets Hotter as She Gets OlderThis may seem crazy, but am I the only one who thinks that as Brooke Burke gets older she actually gets hotter? It’s like some strange Benjamin Button-type of hotter/older syndrome. Don’t get me wrong, she was hot as all get-up when she was younger, but these bikini photos taken of the near 40-year-old Burke are killer. Maybe we’re just shocked that she continues to maintain a flawless body. Something’s got us thinking she’s hot as ever. Take a look at this set for some evidence of our claim. |
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shot GlassesI'm currently suffering from mild depression since school started up again yesterday, but I'm very thankful to have had such a relaxing break. Puerto Rico was a blast, Christmas was great with my family, and Ryan and I celebrated NYE in NYC with some of our closest friends. I read good books, watched plenty of trashy TV (new addiction: American Pickers, anyone else?) , and of course did some baking. But this post isn't a true baked good, there's not even a real recipe to go along with it -- just a great party idea if you love the combination of chocolate, strawberries, and alcohol as much as I do. |
Cameron Diaz is Clearly PregnantCameron Diaz is in Atlanta today filming ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’, a movie clearly made by people who only have the vaguest notion of what to expect when you’re expecting. They know it takes place in the ladies stomach, more or less, so they made that bigger… and then they called it a day. And now Cameron Diaz is playing a pregnant lady. See? Pregnant Lady. Or possibly Shoplifter. |
Hurricane/TS Irene Railroad AftermathFollowing the August 28 12-inches-plus of rainfall in as little as 3-4 hours, the entire state of Vermont saw destruction and devastation that has not been seen since the "Great Flood of 1927" and then some folks say this is worse. I've had the opportunity to access rail areas that have no public assess to survey heavily damaged locations in the flooding and recorded the following images. |

2012 Ferrari 458 Spider Is A Topless Dream MachineWhen you chop the top of a sports car, you often lose the lines that originally draws crowds to gasp in excitement as it rolls past into the sunset. Ferrari has just hacked the lid off its 458 Italia and the resulting 458 Spider is the tradition-bucking result. The convertible 458 puts your ears closer to the engine, allows all of your senses to to explode without getting the upholstery messy and guns down nearly every other car in your path. Nestled behind your soon-to-be-mussed coif sits the 458's 4.5-liter V8 heart that pumps out 562 horsepower and life-changing affirmations. Be it the Italian countryside or California coast, this is a car we'd want to be piloting when the sun is shining and the roads are empty. |
Purdue University Grad Students Give NASA Lander Tech A BoostWe just learned of NASA's end-of-decade plans to rocket astronauts into deep space for exploratory missions to Mars and beyond. Now, we're getting a peek at the Purdue University-designed lander tech that'll plant our space fleet's feet firmly on terra incognita. What originally started as a senior research project for grad students Thomas Feldman and Andrew Rettenmaier, has now blossomed into a joint research endeavor for the federal space agency's Project Morpheus -- a think tank for trips to heretofore unexplored celestial bodies. The in-development propulsion tech, now undergoing testing at the university's Maurice J. Zucrow Laboratories, is required to "meet stringent design and performance" standards, but most importantly, needs to lift the fuel-depleted lander post-descent. You'd think scientific work of this magnitude would come with a hefty paycheck, but the student team behind it all's just doing it for the hands-on knowledge. |
Blue Angels to Fly on BiofuelsWhen the six F/A-18 Hornets in the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels flight demonstration team thrill the crowds at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River Air Expo in Maryland this weekend, they'll be soaring on biofuel. Each of the six Hornets will be powered by a 50/50-blend of jet fuel and camelina-based biofuel, according to a Navy press release. Camelina is a high-oil flowering plant grown in rotation on land used for wheat and on land too marginal for food production, according to Sustainable Oils, the company providing it to the military. Sustainable Oils says camelina can also reduce carbon emissions by 80% over jet fuel. The camelina mix has been successfully tested in several military aircraft, including the Air Force's A-10 Thunderbolt, F-15 Eagle, F-22 Raptor and C-17 Globemaster, as well as the Navy F/A-18. Two Air Force F-16s from the Thunderbirds demonstration team flew with the mix during a performance in May, the service and Sustainable Fuels said. |
New Infrared Invisibility Cloak Hides Tank, Makes it Look Like a JeepWeapons maker BAE has recently completed a test of its new Adaptiv infrared cloaking technology in Sweden, and hopes to show it off at the upcoming DSEI conference in the UK. With Adaptiv, vehicles and military installations can mimic the infrared signature of their environment, making them all but invisible when viewed through night vision systems. At the core of Adaptiv are hexagonal plates that can quickly change their temperature. These are connected to a control system and cameras which observe the surrounding view in infrared. Once activated, the hexagons quickly match the background. The system has a few more tricks up its sleeve as well: It can mimic the infrared profile of other vehicles, making a fully loaded troop carrier at the vanguard of an invasion look like a lone Jeep. The system can also be used to identify friendly vehicles, displaying a special insignia which can be seen through night vision. BAE says that the system is scalable, and could camouflage air, land, and sea vehicles as well. |
