We don't post Paris Hilton pics nearly as often as we did a few years ago, so at least give us props for that! Obviously the main focus of this post is not Paris, but her wheels---the sweet ass 552 h.p. Lexus LFA. The thing looks mean. I gotta admit, I'd rather be caught driving around in this than the $1.5 million Bugatti that Flo Rida insists on pimping to dinner each night of the week. More bang for the buck, baby!

U.S. Adventurer Becomes First Man To Cross The Alps With Helium Balloons

The intrepid adventurer who crossed the English Channel by helium balloon has taken to the air once again - this time with a floating journey over the Alps. Jonathan Trappe, a trained pilot from Raleigh, North Carolina, is the first person to cross the European mountain range using helium balloons as his method of transport. Strapped to 54 of the brightly-coloured, gas filled balloons, the 38-year-old took almost 12 hours to make his historic crossing, around half of which was completed in the dark. Mr Trappe, who last year crossed the English Channel hanging from helium balloons, floated westward over the French Alps after taking off from Gap, south-east France. At one point he feared he would smack straight into the massive Monte Viso near the French-Italian border.

The Rare White Black Bear

For National Geographic's August issue, photographer Paul Nicklen captured the spirit bear in all its glory. With a population of only about 400 to 1,000, the white bear is a rare sight to behold. Just how do they get that color? "Scientists know how black bears are born white. They're just not sure why," says Bruce Barcott of National Geographic. "The phenomenon, known as Kermodism, is triggered by a recessive mutation at the MC1R gene, the same gene associated with red hair and fair skin in humans. To be born white, a bear must inherit the mutation from both parents. The parents themselves don't have to be white. They just need to carry the recessive mutation. So it's not uncommon for white bears to be born to black parents."

Techart GTStreet RS is the ultimate Smurf-colored Porsche 911

The 2012 911 wasn't the only Porsche to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week. German tuner Techart unveiled its new GTStreet RS based on the 911 GT2 RS. The car features a variety of upgrades, from carbon fiber aerodynamic enhancements to a power upgrade package that boosts the output of the twin-turbo flat-six to 710 horsepower and 664 lb-ft torque. Techart says that the GTSTreet RS can reach 100 km/h (about 62 mph) from a standing start in just 3.3 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 218 mph. Additional upgrades are available as well, including lightweight 20-inch wheels and custom interior appointments.

13-Year-Old Sculpts Life-Size LEGO Batman

It’s not enough that this 6-foot-tall LEGO Batman looks totally awesome, but the fact that it was built by a 13-year-old makes it even more impressive to me. Maybe it’s just that when I was a kid, my LEGO building abilities were pretty much limited to whatever the picture on the box showed. And when I was a teenager, there’s no way I had the attention span to do anything so complex. LEGO fanatic Evan Bacon built this life-size Batman using somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 bricks (I guess you start to lose count at those sort of numbers), and took him about 3 months to build it.

Boeing Chooses Android For 787 Dreamliner's Entertainment System

While Apple continues to score wins in the use of its iPad for inflight entertainment, Boeing has chosen its nemesis – Google’s Android operating system – to provide music, video and even airline-specific apps for the next-gen 787 Dreamliner. According to Mark Larson, technical manager at Boeing’s Dreamliner Gallery, all 787s now in production will be fitted with Android-based servers and touchscreens. “Those Dreamliners that are being configured right now can get (Android)” Larson told Australian Business Traveller. Panasonic has already built the first 787-certified Android touchscreen, which is available in everything from economy seats to first-class suites.
