Minka Kelly’s Late Night HotnessAs you may or may not know by now, some morons thought it would be a good to remake Charlie’s Angels for like the fifteenth time or so, but this time using some hot young tail. Again. How many times do we have to go through this garbage? Anyhow, Here’s Minka Kelly outside the Letterman studios yesterday giving us a little preview of the hotness we can expect this season. Obviously the show’s going to be terrible, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to Tivo the crap and watch Minka’s scenes in slow motion with the sound off. Maybe I’ll crack open a box of wine, put on some Michael Bolton tunes and make a night of it. Good times. |
The Killer Redback Spiders And Other Creepy Crawlies Invading Our Homes From AbroadFor almost 1,000 years, Britain has been able to defend itself against any wannabe-conqueror who fancied seizing the kingdom. But after successfully seeing off the likes of Napoleon and Hitler, our shores have finally been breached by an army of lethal foreign invaders. For a new survey shows that homes across Britain have become infested by killer spiders, biting ants and skin-crawling cockroaches shipped in from distant lands. The survey of local authority pest control teams illustrates the wide variety of exotic pests now established in UK homes - and experts believe their numbers are increasing. Among the most terrifying revelations are the numerous sightings of the redback spider - believed to be responsible for 14 fatalities in its native Australia. The pea-sized killer has been found in Scotland, Wales and the Midlands. |
Emmy Rossum Shameless Bikini Booty ShotsI don’t know when the f@#k her show Shameless is supposed to be back on, actors have awesome work schedules, but if it means that Emmy Rossum is going to be hanging out in her bikini a little longer I don’t care. I wasn’t really sure if she was a hottie or not, she can make some pretty strange looking faces from time to time, but after seeing these shots of her I’m going to go with hottie. It helps that most of the pictures involve her cute butt in some way. |

Lotus Shakes Down Its Rally-Spec ExigeLotus delivered an early Christmas present: Photos of the shakedown test of its new FIA rally-spec Exige. The test occurred this morning in Turin, Italy, where the Exige R-GT turned its first lap tracks in full rally trim. The company announced the rally program earlier this year and plans to hit the the asphalt events on the 2012 FIA World Rally Championship calendar. The development of the car started in July, according to Lotus director of motorsport Claudio Berro. He said the testing met his expectations. “The Exige S makes the perfect GT rally car,” Berro said in a statement. “It has an awesome 3.5-liter supercharged engine, and we’ve managed to balance the weight perfectly to meet the minimum weight regulations.” |
Google Facts and FiguresGoogle has perhaps more than any other company become “The Internet Company.” It’s grown hand in hand with the internet and its entire business model has from the start been totally focused on the internet as a delivery platform. And let’s face it, Google is a pretty interesting company. In fact, we think it’s so interesting that we put together this infographic with a ton of facts and figures about Google. We’ve been digging through Google’s SEC filings, news articles and the trusty old Wikipedia to get plenty of interesting data to include. We hope you like it! |
Pikes Peak Hill Climb Contemplating Expansion to two-day Event012 will be the first year that the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will be held on an entirely paved road, and while many who have long been involved with the event are bemoaning the loss of the gravel sections, the full tarmac course has peaked interest in the race. In fact, event organizers are considering adding a second race day for 2013. This time last year only 46 racers has expressed interest in participating in the event, but that number is already up to 170 for next year's race. "The interest is astronomical compared to last year," says Tom Osborne, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb board chairman. "We're seeing all kinds of unique new cars." Osborne says that the race will likely have to hold a qualifying for 2012 to limit the number of entries into each class. |
Rats Free Trapped Friends Hint at Universal EmpathyWith a few liberating swipes of their paws, a group of research rats freed trapped labmates and raised anew the possibility that empathy isn’t unique to humans and a few extra-smart animals, but is widespread in the animal world. Though more studies are needed on the rats’ motivations, it’s at least plausible they demonstrated “empathically motivated pro-social behavior.” People would generally call that helpfulness, or even kindness. “Rats help other rats in distress. That means it’s a biological inheritance,” said neurobiologist Peggy Mason of the University of Chicago. “That’s the biological program we have.” |
