Kim Kardashian Is RelaxingApparently on vacation from wearing a bikini and letting people take her picture, Kim Kardashian is on vacation in Costa Rica wearing a bikini and letting people take pictures of her. I assume she's with Reggie Bush, but I can't really tell. The dude in this picture has a really great tan, but I thought black dudes went to the beach wearing socks and Timberlands and maybe carrying a hand towel. Sorry, I'm so confused right now. |
Scenes from KenyaKenya remains one of Africa's most developed countries, but has been dealt several setbacks in the past few years. Political and tribal conflicts, unstable neighbors (Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia), and a crushing drought last year have left much of Kenya on hold, trying to regain recent momentum. The tourist trade has begun to pick up, nearly returning to the record levels - $810 million dollars earned in 2009. Several government plans are in motion to retain and rebuild the economy, including a massive translocation project to move zebras and wildebeest into lion territory - hopefully alleviating lion attacks on livestock in the drought-affected area. Collected here are a handful of recent photographs from Kenya. |

The Shooting WarOne of Iraq's iconic scenes of conflict, this was the Canal Hotel 24 hours after the U.N. headquarters there had been eviscerated, when only a man and a machine were left combing through the rubble. "I don't think they found anybody," says Sinclair. A day earlier, she had arrived on the scene soon after the deadly explosion to find chaos. She remembers it now as "the first major signifier that things were turning for the worse." |

Edo Aston Martin DBSThe 12-cylinder Aston Martin DBS flagship already produces 517 horsepower and boasts a top speed of more than 300 km/h (186 mph). Improving on those numbers while underlining the elegance and beautiful design of this British knockout and strengthening its sporting credentials was the goal declared by edo competition. The power output was tackled first. It was agreed that 517 hp and 570 Nm (420 ft-lb) are not quite enough. The engine control unit was modified via software recalibration. Thanks to a new high performance exhaust system, special catalytic converters and high flow air filters, power output was increased to an impressive 550 hp and 600 Nm (442 ft-lb). This is enough power to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds and continue on to a top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph). As a matter of principle all modifications performed by edo competition are calibrated and verified on a dynamometer. This way the true power output can be documented. |
Motion-sim 4dof Racing Simulator Will Take Your Retirement Fund For The Ride Of Its LifeRace simulators like rFactor or iRacing offer the kind of gaming experience only available this side of a six-point harness, particularly when combined with a wheel like Logitech's G27, but sometimes it's a little difficult to get into the game when perched on an office chair. The 4DOF racing simulator from Motion-Sim will provides the missing link with a somewhat dangerous looking combination of pistons and articulating arms. It's been around for a few months but we're just now getting a chance to check out the thing in motion -- pitch, roll, yaw, and heave to be specific, with a harness of its own to keep the latter of those forces from sending you across the room whilst braking for La Source. It's only available to PC simmers and only the very richest ones: €18,450.00 for the home version, or $25,000 -- enough to get into a Formula Ford and onto a real track if you wanted. For everyone else we have two infinitely more affordable videos embedded below, one showing frantic F1 action, the other rallycrossing in Live for Speed. |
Honda CR-Z Was Almost Killed Twice, U.S. Dealers Didn't Want ItNorio Tomobe, chief engineer of the Honda CR-Z, said "The CR-Z is supposed to be an intelligent sports car." We can spend a fair bit of time debating the 'intelligence' of a sports coupe that gets from 0-to-60 in 9.7 seconds and has just two seats but gets worse gas mileage than a Toyota Prius. However, we won't really be able to decide on the issue until we drive it, and that is apparently what it takes to feel the love for it. According to Automotive News, back when the CR-Z was being designed to house a traditional gasoline-only drivetrain, Tomobe said he and his team dug deep to come up with a new idea for the car, which ended up being a hybrid drivetrain and a six-speed transmission. But that wasn't until after they had tried to kill the project. Twice. And that didn't stop the president of American Honda Motor from repeatedly telling Japan the U.S. didn't need or want a sporty hybrid, which he thought would confuse customers. Until he drove it, and then all was go. |
Annoyingly Creative Alarm ClocksWhat is the most annoying thing in your life? Everyone has their own list, and there are probably thousands of things you already hate. The sound of a crying baby, wall drilling, clock ticking, electric guitar are just a few. Although this list seems pretty annoying – there are even worse things than that... It’s waking up early in the morning! And what is the first thing we hear in the morning? Yes. I bet morning Alarm Clock Sound tops your most annoying thing list. Of course, there always comes this very smart idea to turn it off and spend “just 5 more minutes” sleeping. But the consequences are usually very sad. In order not to fall into the lure of sweet sweet dreams some innovative people made lots of creative alarm clocks for every heavy sleeper! |
