Remembering the Battle of Britain

The Battle of Britain is the name given to the air campaign waged by the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) against the United Kingdom during the summer and autumn of 1940. The objective of the campaign was to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force (RAF), especially Fighter Command. The name derives from a famous speech delivered by Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the House of Commons: "The Battle of France is over. I expect the Battle of Britain is about to begin..." The Battle of Britain was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces, and was also the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign to that date. From July 1940 coastal shipping convoys and shipping centres, such as Portsmouth were the main targets; one month later the Luftwaffe shifted its attacks to RAF airfields and infrastructure. As the battle progressed the Luftwaffe also targeted aircraft factories and ground infrastructure. Eventually the Luftwaffe resorted to attacking areas of political significance and using terror bombing tactics.

Auto Veloce Ferrari F430 SVR

Based on the shores of Lake Biwa in Japan is a tuning company called Auto Veloce. Now normally when a high end tuning outfit decides to develop some aftermarket aerodynamic body panels for exotic machinery they try to expand on the original vehicle with sympathetic upgrades designed to reflect and enhance the original designers vision. Not so with Auto Veloce. They've decided to spit in the face of Ferrari by developing a range of accessories for the F430 which are unashamedly influenced by the styling of Ferrari's main rival Lamborghini. Essentially the kit comprises of a new front bumper with two large angular intakes positioned and shaped just like those found on the Lamborghini Gallardo. Then for the sideskirts Auto Veloce have created some beefier units which are almost carbon copies of those found on the Murcielago LP640. At the rear the F430 gets a rather busy looking diffuser and a massive rear wing.

Apple Keeps Antennagate Alive With Droid X's Kill Switch

We had a feeling Apple wasn't done showing off the apparent reception woes of its competitors -- after all, the company already updated once this week with the Nokia N97 mini. Now it's going after Motorola's celebrity of the moment (and known iPhone 4 bully), the Droid X. You can see Cupertino's results in the video after the break, but unlike Apple's other videos, we can't seem to recreate this one as easily with our Droid Xs. But hey, it's not like anyone's gonna buy a big phone anyway, right?
