Mongolia's Worst Winter In 30 Years

Mongolia is experiencing one of the worst winters in 30 years. Presently the government has declared an emergency requiring foreign aid to alleviate the impact of the "Zud" (Mongolian term for a multiple natural disaster) caused by bitter cold and thick snow. Recently, the UN allocated $3.7 million for humanitarian assistance to Mongolia from its Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF). Currently 1.5 million goats, 921,000 sheep, 169,000 cows and yaks, 89,000 horses and 1,500 camels have died according to the various UN agency reports.

Carl Edwards Gets Three-race Probation For Intentional Wreck

NASCAR handed down its ruling yesterday on Carl Edwards' retaliatory wreck of Brad Keselowski during the Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Sunday. The Roush Fenway Racing team driver will be subjected to a three-race probation that covers the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 21, the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway on March 28 and the Subway Fresh Fit 600 at Phoenix International Raceway on April 10. What does probation mean for Edwards? Not a whole hell of a lot. The best description we could find of this peculiar punishment was "little more than monitoring actions." That is to say, unlike a suspension, Edwards will race the next three Sprint Cup races. The fact that Edwards won't face much consequence for his actions last Sunday is in keeping with what NASCAR officials said in January about putting more responsibility in the hands of the driver.

MotoCzysz Puts the Sizzle in Electric Motorcycles

We are in the midst of an electric motorcycle revolution, and nowhere is that more obvious than on the racetrack. The new technology is not about tweaking the status quo. It’s about shattering it. And that’s just what Michael Czysz plans to do at the TT Zero motorcycle race. The head guy at MotoCzysz — that’s pronounced MotoSizz, as in sizzle — is returning to the Isle of Man for another run at the famed Mountain Course on a supersexy electric motorcycle that is sure to make your heart skip a beat. Last year’s bike, the equally gorgeous E1PC, used three motors and 10 lithium-ion batteries. Czysz says it would do zero to 120 mph in seven seconds, but we’ll have to take his word for it. Mechanical gremlins sidelined the bike during the inaugural TTXGP electric motorcycle race. As good as that bike may have been, it’s last year’s model. The bike we’ll see this year shares just 10 percent of its parts with the E1PC. Czysz says the technology is changing too fast to look back.

Here's how to wipe them clean. Sure, you could erase the contents of the drive, but keep this in mind: the act of erasing a file does not remove it from a storage device. When you erase/delete a file from your computer, it's not really gone until the areas of the disk it used are overwritten by new information. If you use the normal Windows delete function, the "deleted" file is sent to the Recycle Bin until the space it uses is required by other files. If you use Shift-Delete to bypass the Recycle Bin, the space occupied by the file is marked as available for other files. However, the file could be recovered days or even weeks later with third-party data recovery software. As long as the operating system does not reuse the space occupied by a file with another file, the "deleted" file can be recovered.
