Kim Kardashian Is On A BoatKim Kardashian is in Miami this weekend, and again, I don't care if she's been on top of more black guys than Haiti, I'd put an inner tube around my dick and plow her ass like a freed slave who just got 40 acres. I realize that metaphor makes me a 150-year old black guy, but hopefully she'll just read "black" and just go with it. |
A Solar Corona Where Temperatures Reach 2,000,000 CelciusShooting a million miles or more out into the hard, cold vacuum of space, this fiery halo is one of the wonders of the universe. Whipped into gigantic swirls by the Sun's ferocious magnetic fields, the shell of super-hot gas is as beautiful as it is dangerous. It's called a corona and can't normally be seen because of the brightness of the Sun, a broiling sea of hydrogen gas at 10,000c. But during a solar eclipse, the Moon blocks out the Sun and the corona is spectacularly revealed. This extraordinary image is a montage, digitally stitched together from 38 photos taken on the Marshall Islands in July 2009 by veteran eclipse hunter Miloslav Druckmuller. |
Stephanie Seymour + Bikini = WinStephanie Seymour is still in St Barts with her stupid kids, but that’s not stopping her from essentially (NSFW) taking her top off or wearing see thru bikinis. Even the bottom was kind of see thru. I don’t know what bikini designer decided bikinis shouldn’t be water proof, but we should find out and then put his picture on all our money, in honor of this great great man. |

Introducing GM’s Next Generation Head-Up DisplayTechnology is a wonderful thing when used appropriately and we have to admit although GM’s image for the next generation head-up display is pretty cool, we have to wonder how much safer it is actually making the driving experience. Let’s rewind a moment to illustrate just what this new technology will entail. GM R&D, Carnegie Mellon University, The University of Southern California, and other institutions are working together to create a full windshield head-up system that allows the driver to see in any type of weather condition turning the windshield into a device that will hopefully keep the driver aware of his surroundings and his eyes on the road. |
Virtobot Performs Virtual AutopsiesVirtobot is the name of a forensic robot used at the University of Bern's Institute of Forensic Medicine to perform virtual autopsies. In the futuristic Virtopsy laboratory, the robot scans the contours and texture of the human body by projecting light bars on it and acquiring high definition images. These data are combined with the CT images acquired by the scanner in the same room. A three dimensional image of the body is then reconstructed that can be used during forensic examinations and be preserved as long as necessary. Additionally, the robot can also perform CT guided biopsies. The US forces have already installed a Virtopsy laboratory at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to assess the cause of death of soldiers sent back from Iraq and Afghanistan. |
Mclaren MP4-12C Takes The Stage At Company UnveilingEarly this morning, at least in the U.S., McLaren Automotive had a coming out party in its home town of Woking, England. We were there in person and witnessed the unveiling of not only a new sports car company, McLaren Automotive, but also its flagship product: The MP4-12C. This will be the first of an entire range of new McLaren sports cars, and the company best know for its exploits on the F1 race circuit appears to have built a doozy of a supercar to kick things off. McLaren F1 drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton were on hand at McLaren's technology center to pull back the sheet on the MP4-12C. The rear-wheel-drive supercar features a mid-mounted 3.8-liter V8 producing 600 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque with an 8,000-rpm redline. Comparisons with the legendary McLaren F1 will no doubt be made, but no performance numbers are available for the MP4-12C yet and, we suspect, their missions in life are not exactly the same. |
The Real Alien Ant FarmWe might be a little in danger of coming over all Monty Python if we pose the question what has NASA ever done for us? It is a good question, however and one which we will seek to answer in an occasional series of articles, beginning with this one. The real alien ant farm! Generations of children have been fascinated by ant farms (not to mention adults who often use the kids wanted one as an excuse) but when it comes to dirt, you can’t really see a great deal of what is going on inside. Enter NASA. Back in 2003, the Space Agency wanted to see how ants would create their tunnels in zero gravity. However, there was a problem, not so much for Houston but for the ants. The problem was gravity, specifically the almighty amount of it associated with getting a shuttle off terra firma and in to space. If sand had been used then it would shift under the gravity and inevitably crush the life out of the ants. A container full of squished ants would not be very useful for any sort of study in space – unless it was to be a taste test of some kind. |
