Katherine Hagel's Dress Tries To Jump ShipKatherine Hagel is more annoying than a mosquito buzzing in your ear while you're trying to sleep (speaking from experience), so it's no surprise that her dress tried to leave her ass at ShoWest in Las Vegas yesterday. Hagel went onstage to accept the award for Most Ungrateful Ho In Hollywood when her dress strap snapped and her chichi almost came piling out. Billy Bush, who presented Hagel with the award, had to hold her dress strap up so that she could give her acceptance speech without flashing a nip at the audience. |
Bizarre-Looking Tricks of the Weatherhis sure was a weird winter. We've been buried under record-breaking blizzards, and for the first time in recorded history, a whopping 49 states (all but Hawaii) had snow on the ground at the same time. But that's nothing. Here are some truly strange and striking meteorological and atmospheric phenomena. Cross a wildfire with a tornado and you have the catastrophic "fire whirl." The strong temperature gradient created by fires—between the hot flame and the cooler air surrounding it—can create a vortex; if the air currents and wind conditions are just right, the fire can travel upward in a whirling column. |
Sandra Bullock Bikini PicturesYou know the drill, it's summer, which means every single celebrity you've ever heard of (or haven't) is walking around in a bikini. Today, we've got some not all that exciting Sandra Bullock bikini pictures. You may remember her from Speed, or one of a million crappy romantic comedies. Her career has been kind of shit lately, especially since marrying that reality TV greasemonkey douchebag. They look happy, though, so whatever. |
Beautiful Macro Photography ShotsMacro photography is the art of taking close-up pictures that reveal details which can’t be seen with the naked eye. For example, while we can see the fly on the wall, our eyes aren’t equipped to make out the fine details of the hairs on it’s face. This is where macro photography comes in. It gives us a glimpse into the world of the very small, which goes largely unnoticed by us as we hurriedly shuffle through our day. In this edition of our Monday Inspiration series we present 25 beautiful examples of macro photography. A round-up of some truly revealing and inspiring macro photographs which are sure to have you marveling at the world around you. You may check out the links at the bottom of this post for further resources on the subject of macro photography. |

Boeing 787 Completes Critical Flutter TestingBoeing passed a major milestone today in the 787 Dreamliner program. Today’s flight test of airframe ZA001, the first 787 to fly back in December, marks the end of flutter testing for the airplane. Wired.com was in Boeing’s telemetry room today in Seattle and will have a full report of flight testing from the engineers perspective on Monday. Flight test engineers and test pilots at Boeing have been performing flutter tests for the past several weeks concluding with a 3 hour 48 minute flight today. Flutter testing is a critical part of the envelope expansion for any new airplane. Until the testing is complete, flight test aircraft may be limited to certain speeds, altitudes and weights during various maneuvers. During the flutter testing flights, pilots introduce a range of vibration frequencies to the flight surfaces and flight control surfaces to ensure the design of the aircraft dampens out the oscillations without further input from the pilots. |
Unprecedented 25-Year Sentence Sought for TJX HackerComputer hacker Albert Gonzalez deserves a quarter-century behind bars for leading a gang of cyberthieves who stole tens of millions of credit and debit card numbers from a transaction processor and several giant retail chains, federal prosecutors argued in a court filing Thursday night. “[T]he sentences would be the longest ever imposed in an identity theft case and among the longest imposed for a financial crime, which is appropriate because Gonzalez was at the center of the largest and most costly series of identity thefts in the nation’s history,” wrote Boston-based Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Heymann. “He knowingly victimized a group of people whose population exceeded that of many major cities and some states.” |

iPhone Font Created Out Of 540 AppsNo, we can't give you a clear reason why this particular chap did this particular thing, but good gravy, look at the pretty pictures! We've come across an iPhone-inspired font that looks to have been created by collating and color coding a vast collection of apps in order to properly represent the English alphabet. There's not much info given beyond the app count and the fact it required an architect with "too much free time" on his hands, but we're not going to begrudge a visual attraction when we can get one. You might be able to get the typography for yourself by contacting the author at the source link, or you can skip past the break to see it on video -- if you're careful enough you should be able to spot the world's greatest mobile app making a guest appearance. |
