Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 First Details

If you’ve been lusting after the new Mercedes SLS AMG Gulllwing but wish it had the raw brazen performance of a fighter jet, you may very well get your wish. The internet is abuzz this morning with leaked details of a new race-ready version of the SLS known as the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3, a streamlined version of the Gullwing built along the lines of the FIA sanctioned GT3 series. At this point no official details have been confirmed, but rumors suggest the SLS AMG GT3 will be powered by a 600 horsepower version of AMG’s recently announced twin-turbocharged 5.5-Liter V8. Prevalent use of carbon fiber exterior is expected to keep weight to a minimum, while the interior has been nipped-and-tucked as well to further remove any unnecessary body fat.

To understand what makes water boil, it's important to stop thinking of water as an object, and start thinking of it as a collection of loose particles. A good analogue is an unruly elementary school class. Both the kids and water molecules tend to have a certain cohesion. Still, each particle is separate. If you get a group of kids together, they'll start fidgeting, pushing and shoving, until someone goes flying. In much the same way, in a group of water molecules, individual molecules will move independently, jostling the molecules next to them until some particles are lost into the air as water vapor. Turn up the heat, and this happens faster and faster.

The Citroën GQ Concept was born through a unique partnership between the UK's market-leading quality men's monthly and a team of Citroën designers, collaborating to create the ultimate gentleman's drive. This is the first time a British magazine has collaborated with a car company in this way. Responding to a brief by GQ's editor, Dylan Jones, Citroën's team, headed by British designer - and the man responsible for the new Citroën DS3 - Mark Lloyd, took a new look at the GT theme and integrated it with a typical Citroën design approach bringing Citroën GQ Concept from design outline to concept reality. Citroën GQ Concept combines classically sophisticated features and contemporary styling with a sculpted front end, rounded rear, strong body contours and sleek concave rear windscreen - a signature Citroën design.

Shoes That Make Everyone The Same Height

Berlin-based artist Hans Hemmert (famous for his work with balloons) threw a party where guests wore shoe-extenders to make them all the same height of 2 meters. Aside from bringing the partygoers all to a common eye level (and eliminating the awkward postures of party talk between the tall and the short), the gathering is lent an infographic nature by the shoes: all made from blue foam, the person's real height is read in the visual uniformity of the sole instead of at the head—like a walking bar graph. This (completely underpublished) project, entitled "Level," is from 1997, produced for the Personal Absurdities show at the Galerie Gebauer Berlin. Finding it now, in 2010, I can't help but read it as a design event, getting directly at the basic qualities that shape our interactions with others—what does it mean when we all share one height?
