Inside a Russian Nuclear Power PlantOne Russian blogger has paid a visit to the modern Russian nuclear plant. Normally it is forbidden to take photos there, but they have made an exception for him. So now we have a rare chance to see what’s inside of the Russian most modern power plant. This power plant is situated near Smolensk city. Its power generation potential is 3 Megawatt and it was build for 8 years, from 1982 to 1990. There were planned to be four nuclear reactors, but because of the panic after the Chernobyl accident the forth block has not been completed, so there are three of them for now. Let’s go inside. |
More Awesome Michelle Hunziker Bikini PicturesJust in case you wanted more Michelle Hunziker bikini pictures, here you go. But really, who wouldn't? She's got to be one of the most beautiful women on the planet, and she even has a teenage daughter. How's that for a run at Ultimate MILF!? I'm guessing Michelle had the kid when she was twelve, because she doesn't look older than 25. I'm not sure if that math even works out, but the point is, Michelle Hunziker is a freak of nature with how hot she is, and obviously has found a way to defeat the ageing process. Whatever her secret is, if you could bottle it and sell it, you'd be a rich man. |
Lost in Time: The Disused Kingsway Tram SubwayLurking deep beneath London is a labyrinth of tunnels incorporating underground railways, secret passages, drainage systems and subterranean chambers. The "Tube" is famous as the oldest and most extensive underground railway network in the world, but what about less well known forms of subterranean transport? The long-abandoned Kingsway Tram Subway is an elusive place that offers a unique glimpse into the past. |

Report: President Obama denied hybrid limo by Secret ServiceYou can't always get what you want. President Barack Obama said today that he originally wanted his presidential limo to boast a hybrid drivetrain. So what keeps the ruler of the free world from getting what he asks for? In this case, it was the Secret Service. Obama's body guards said that a hybrid engine couldn't produce the kind of power necessary to scoot the massive Cadillac down the road in an emergency situation. That's saying something, considering the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid boasts a V8 with enough power to have a 7,700-pound towing capacity. Part of us thinks it might also be a security concern to have a vehicle that may be more susceptible to electronic interference from nefarious sources, but that's just a guess. |
Navy Submarine Runs Eternally on Thermal Power from Ocean CurrentsA Navy-funded thermal engine bobbing off the coast of Hawaii is accomplishing a rare feat -- it produces more energy than it consumes. Though it's not quite a perpetual motion machine, it could provide scientists or the Navy with a perpetual presence on the seas. The engine is attached to an unmanned underwater vessel, called SOLO-TREC (for Sounding Oceanographic Lagrangian Observer -- Thermal RECharging), and uses the energy of the ocean to derive a practically limitless energy supply. SOLO-TREC is outfitted with a series of tubes full of waxy phase-change materials. As the float encounters warm temperatures near the ocean's surface, the materials expand; when it dives and the waters grow cooler, the materials contract. The expansion and contraction pressurizes oil, which drives a hydraulic motor. The motor generates electricity and recharges the batteries, which power a pump. The pump can change the float's buoyancy, allowing it to move up and down the water column. |
2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor 6.2-liter V8 priced at $38,995A more potent form of Ford Motor Co.’s off-road F-150 SVT Raptor was unveiled last year yet but dealerships are only now starting to receive these trucks equipped with the 6.2-liter V-8 engine. The most powerful gas engine available in the half-ton pickup segment, the 6.2-liter V-8 engine is a two-valve, SOHC design. As the base engine for the redesigned 2011 Super Duty, the SVT Raptor is the V-8’s first introduction to the F-150 lineup. This engine will probably be used as an option for the other F-150 models in 2011. Ford said that the all-new 6.2-liter delivers 411hp and 434 pound-feet of torque. To date, there have been almost 3,000 customers who preordered the 6.2-liter Raptor. The first production model will be delivered to Greg Biffle, a Roush Fenway NASCAR driver who had previously driven the F-150 SVT Raptor R in a Best in the Desert race. |
Great White Shark Amazes Scientists With 4,000-foot DiveA great white shark known to frequent New Zealand waters has given new meaning to the term "Down Under." Scientists revealed that the 15-foot shark they've named "Shack" probed to 1,200 meters, or 3,937 feet, as it traveled across open ocean. Malcolm Francis, principal scientist in charge of the tagging study, is calling this "the world's deepest great white shark dive record" and said it extends the predators' known vertical range by about 600 feet--which is substantial given that great whites, until fairly recently, were regarded as coastal predators. If placed into perspective Shack might as well have been swimming upward into outer space: That's how bizarre the marine universe is at the depth to which the shark delved. |
